With Sunseri pitching 13 innings yesterday, and then again tonight, it got me thinking.
How fast could a male pitcher pitch a baseball using the softball pitching motion?

With that motion, pitchers don’t have to wait days between pitching games, and there are obviously way fewer injuries.

A softball throwing motion is natural, a baseball throwing motion isn’t.

I would imagine you can’t throw a baseball underhand faster than a softball.

There’s still a price to pay. Even if you type too much, it causes problems.

Reaction time is the same given the speed vs distance. It’s why many MLB players have been stuck out by softball pitchers.

Jenny Finch struck out Bonds and A Rod, off the top of my head. See for yourself.

They probably didn’t have their eyes on the ball.

doubt that they were taking her seriously, but over the course over a 162 game season everyone will strike out someone, and everyone will strike out a few times, I've seen her pitch in some old timer games with some old ex major leaguers, these guys are all out there yucking it up, probably drinking before and during the expedition, and she's out there thinking she can hang wit that class of athlete, I forget who it was, an old dude at bat and they are talking smack, Finch fires in what I'm sure what she thinks is her best pitch, probably thinking of showing the old man what she's capable of, facial expression and demeanor of the old dude immediately changed, next pitch was over the left field fence and is probably still traveling
