How about birthday parties where people come over, have fun, eat em up, drink em up and the hell with any gifts. Make it like a bring a dish thing. Kids have too much crap now anyway.

That is terrrible. St Judes was an organization I always donate to. I have a drawer full of envelope return address stickers from them.
This is disappointing news for me.

Have you looked through their financial statements? They’re publicly available.

yes i looked at them and saw that usually 75% or more goes to caring for the kids. This St Jude Link states
"
What percentage of what I donate actually benefits the children?
For the past seven years, 78 cents of every dollar donated has gone to support the treatment, research and future needs of St. Jude. The majority of funds needed to operate and sustain St. Jude must be raised from generous donors, but we also receive some revenue from insurance recoveries, research grant funding and returns on our investments. When you look at total revenue, ALSAC and St. Jude are proud that 82 cents of every dollar received has gone to support patients and research at St. Jude today and in the future.
From the Charity Navigator Website LINK :
Financial Performance Metrics: Based on the financials from St Jude which has a 100% score on transparency and accuracy in reporting
Program Expenses(Percent of the charity's total expenses spent on the programs and services it delivers) 72.2%
Administrative Expenses 11.2%
Fundraising Expenses 16.4%
Fundraising Efficiency $0.15
Working Capital Ratio (years) 2.84
Program Expenses Growth 6.8%
Liabilities to Assets 9.1%
Can you show me here you got such a figure from? It doesn't sound right or something is seriously wrong because that is not inline with ST Jude and their philosophy.

For every toy my child is given, he has to donate 1 to the local children’s home. All money received is broken into 3rds - he keeps 1/3, deposits 1/3 into his savings account and donates 1/3 to charity.
