Generalizing here,

That's my problem here.

18 year olds are not all the same and we need to stop pretending like they are and treat it as a case by case basis.

I'm saying this because we were all 18 once and I remember that I was pretty much the same guy at 18 that I was at 15-16 being a big old kid. I had the same body, same attitude and mindset, same strength. I had no more capacity for extreme, sudden or impulsive acts that would be harmful when I hit my 18th birthday.

I really didn't mature and become who I am today until like 21-22 when I went through some life experiences that made me into who I am today.

Late bloomer I guess.

Well for one, he's not vilifying and writing off an entire age class, is speaking from experience that nearly everyone in this thread does not have and is not making absolutist statements that's ridiculous from the get go.

Sorry that disappoints you.

It doesn't but I speak with knowing how I deal with this situation having a teenage daughter.

One I just came back to church with.

OP, I know it’s hard watching your daughter grow up but try to remember that this isn’t necessarily a bad experience for her. She’ll probably really enjoy it. It might help to imagine your little girl moaning with pleasure as she calls someone else Daddy for the first time.

This is why OT ballers have boats. Invite Jr. out for a fishing trip before date. Shake down cruise should put his head straight.

Seriously, how about telling daughter the dude is welcome to come watch a movie at your place? Tell her is he is really interested in her he'll put up with dad's conditions.

Give her a hurdle for him to hop over. Puts her in charge of questioning his motives, not you.

Last guy that told me his daughters were good kids (and they were) because of their church upbringing, found out his wife was fricking around in him.

She is not the kind of kid. Focused on school and ACT right now. Boys are low priority.

It’s comical how many posters think they can control a teenager

Your best course of action is to get them on birth control and teach them about safe sex

It’s sad how many posters think you can’t be a parent to teenagers so they just take the easy way out and green light whatever the teen wants to do.

You're kid is either a nerd or you are living with your head in the sand or both

You said your son pushes boundaries

Clearly if you were completely capable of controlling him that wouldn’t happen
