I’ve still got one of the Sports Walkman models that I got in the mid-90’s. It was the heavier, yellow model that was supposed to be more durable and you could jog with it, for example. It’s the only way I can listen to cassette tapes.

It might have been introduced 41 years ago, but I don’t remember it becoming something that I saw everywhere until 2 or 3 years later, for a lot less than $150.
It was awesome to be able to listen to my own music during long car trips. The equivalent of kids playing on their phones non-stop today.

I had a starter jacket where the front pockets were always filled with casette tapes
