Tell that to the poliboard. They're forming militias over there.

Of course. I’ve been to my congressman’s and senators offices’ several times. There’s a security screening process similar to an airport to get into the building but after that most of the office buildings are open to the public.

went there in the 90s and I don't even remember a metal detector. I walked all around the capitol and into the House and Senate chambers.

I was there in the summer of 2001 and there was security and metal detectors then. It was similar to what you see at courthouses and airports now. A couple of Capital Police officers had been killed at the Capital a few years earlier. Maybe security was tightened after that.

I only went inside because I had to piss. I entered from the mall side of the building and the people at the security station didn’t seem to believe me. A cop walked me to a bathroom and told me to “leave immediately” after I finished. It was weird. I was definitely at a public entrance because there were tour groups coming through, but maybe it was tour groups only or something.

You should not be subjected to raving lunes in the building. People can access other parts of the building- people can tour the WH, they can't knock on the Oval Office.

As simpler analogy - a woman confronts a man at her taxpayer funded local library she has issues with. Should she just be allowed to scream at him for 5 minutes? The fact that it IS a public space means she would be subject to basic rules of decorum.

I was surprised at level of access random people have to lawmakers.

Have you frickwits ever heard of the 1st Amendment? Are you aware that this is America and not a monarchy or a dictatorship...yet? These are nothing more than people chosen by "The People" that have a constitutional "Right to Peaceably Assemble". These people work for us and will hear us if we choose to speak. The people will and should at all times have access to their chosen representatives to make their voices heard. You or anyone else at anytime can show up and be heard regardless of your position. This is America bitch!!

Extract from Thomas Jefferson to William Stephens Smith Paris Nov. 13. 1787.

The people can not be all, & always, well informed. the part which is wrong [. . .] will be discontented in proportion to the importance of the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions it is a lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty. We have had 13 States independent 11 years. There has been one rebellion. That comes to one rebellion in a century & a half for each state. What country before ever existed a century & half without a rebellion? What country can preserve it’s liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon & pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants. It is it’s natural manure.

The First Amendment should not mean that one woman has a right to get in the face of a senator and intimidate him hile he is doing his job.
And then you can argue lobbyists do the same thing everyday and that is to manipulate. Go for it but don't be annoying

Especially a potential illegal immigrant. Having an Argintine socialist dictate our politics isnt a good look. Having foreigners come here with their countries bad habits/ideas come here, and wanting us to assimilate to them has been a big part of our issues. Especially when it's their poors we tend to take in.

Protest should make you feel uncomfortable so that you are forced to think about the thing being protested against. The point of protest is to make other people consider a position that they may not currently hold. Can it go too far? Yes, as in the case with the Westboro Baptist Church, but if you have a point to make...sometimes you have to get in someones face for them to hear you. Sky screams don't get a damn thing done.
