I can confirm, right now, just a cold light rain, no sleet or icing

I just went out to check. Just a steady light rain and I’m at 33.9 degrees. I might’ve heard a couple pellets hitting the metal patio roof but it’s 99% rain. Back in my warm bed now.

Watson checking in with a little sleet. Very little though--melting on contact. Temp still sitting at 34, so not sure that's gonna change.

I went from a very slow fall to 33.9 then a quick fall to 33.4 now that it’s raining.

Thanks for the late night/early morning observations.
Given the combo of temps/precip you've seen so far, can you guesstimate how close are we to ice on roads in BR or on the N. shore?

Probably very, very little chance of ice on roads right now.

The tunnel is gonna be gridlock with all the people heading to the beach.

That road is real busy with people just going to work. I remember years back when we had some freezing rain there it was a mess.

32 degrees in God’s country north of downtown St. Amant

Freezing rain in Lafayette and Maurice right now 31 degrees. Getting messy

Slowly turning to freezing rain/ice in Youngsville. Concerned about driving on overpasses on the commute to the office
Posted on 1/21/22 at 4:58 am to Tllsu
Yep, that popped up and is moving towards BR. Might be interesting for an hour or so. It’ll melt fast though.

Looks like 110 is closed… anyone have road conditions in Br?
Posted on 1/21/22 at 5:15 am to TDsngumbo
No flurries in beautiful downtown St. Amant? My phone says flurries in P’ville, and snow in Baton Rouge. Ain’t no snow in Baton Rouge right now that I can see. Not even raining.
