That Shane Gillis opening monologue was more cringy than the zelinski skit.
The canned laugh track plays at each punchline, same exact laugh track, while the band members in the background are stone-faced. that monologue was painfully flat. even Gillis had to comment how bad it was...

Yeah, Shane‘s podcast he said last time he hates monologues and for some reason gets so nervous. I don’t understand why he has to change so much for them. Hell, just tell your best bits because chances are most people haven’t heard them. Try Special Olympics or my ex dated a Navy seal or his Republican dad

Carvey addressed this on his podcast with David Spade. He was invited to the 50th but couldn't make it. I think he sad he was ill, or had a scheduling conflict. One of the two.
