I freaking love Landman.
Billy Bob absolutely embodies his character. So much so that when I saw him wearing some dumb arse beanie, dressed like a skater dude on a morning talk show I was disappointed. I just imagined him wearing shirt sleeves and a ratty cowboy hat in real life.

Your first post commented on energy.

Said nothing of the byproducts of oil beyond it's use in energy.

To be honest I wasn’t thinking of anything else. When knowledgeable people are speaking of phasing out oil and gas due to climate change they are speaking of the burning of hydrocarbons which is responsible for the vast majority of the CO2 emissions.

Similarly, burning wood releases enormous amounts of CO2, and the global warming set would never agree to phasing in wood fired energy. But they are not objecting to making tables out of wood or baseball bats.

And nobody has mentioned Demi Moore and how good she looks in her old age.

Realistic people look at the big picture versus one talking point.

Ali Larter

I always thought she was an absolute smoke show when I was in high school/college. Now she still is, but she plays a mom of a high schooler, who is also played by a smoke show actress.

Weird seeing actresses my age like Ali Larter and Mandy Moore play hot moms now. Like they are still young in my head but in reality they are around 40.

Does anyone think they are lousy parents? Well, let's let our 17 year old daughter have sex upstairs, we did it at that age anyway. Oh, let's take my 17 year old daughter to a strip club with the elderly. The dad doesn't have the sense not to tell that little hussy to not wear skimpy clothes around the house with two other men living there? Please.

I do but then I remember it is a TV show.

I watched the first two episodes yesterday. It had its moments but not enough to watch more. As you point out, there are a lot of ridiculous things. I spent most of my career in the oilfield business, with a fair amount of field time, and almost every field scene they showed was not believable. The rookie, sent up the ladder as a joke, slips and falls? I’ve never been on a job on which that has happened. The guys hammering on a quarter turn valve actuator set off a catastrophic explosion? “Just another day in the patch”. Geez!

Steel tires replace rubber

Point remains, rubber tires can be replaced, as can every single product you use that’s made with hydrocarbons.

You are a modern day Charles Duell

I can't believe you were stupid enough to post that "steel tire" article as a rebuttal. You obviously either didn't read it or are incapable of comprehending the severe limitations of the pipe dream technology it discusses. Neither you nor our grandchildren will EVER see mainstream use of steel tires on public roads, and likely not even extreme niche use.

Hopefully not, and that was not the point of the rebuttal, which conceded the fact that replacement would involve sacrifices.

Anyone who believes that we could not gradually replace hydrocarbons is an unimaginative… I won’t say moron, because the guy who saw no more need for the patent office in 1900 was probably a bright guy. He just was lacking in imagination.

I thought Jerry Jones was outstanding in his cameo.
