Single stage vs 2 stage heater

I’m in the process of getting quotes for a new A/C and heater because we need to go from a 4 ton to a 5 ton. We received our first quote and it was $8400 for a 5 ton Amana 16 seer and a 2 stage heater. Has anyone had a single stage and then a 2 stage heater? If so did you see a difference in your bill? Ours is gas and we were thinking that a 2 stage would be more energy efficient. I’ve emailed the company to see what the price difference is between the single and the double. Just trying to get reccomendations from people to see if it’s worth it.

Wouldn't a two stage just allow for the heat to be just spread out over time?
In other words, with gas heat you pay for BTUs, and it takes a certain amount to heat a home. I figured you'd get with one stage a short amount of time to heat up whereas two stage would just spread the heat amount out over more time.

From what I’ve been told by the guy is that the 2 stage will run at 60-65% to heat the house and if it’s really cold outside and has a hard time heating the house at 65% then it will go into the second stage and use 100%. I was just wondering if anyone has had both before and if they have seen a difference in their gas or electric bill. Trying to see if it’s worth the extra cost.

two stage is best, especially here, it saves you a ton of money on heating.
all heaters have 2 elements, the first comes on with the fan, then the second heating strip comes on after 60-90 seconds. this is done so you dont have a sudden high power draw on the line and it helps the electrical connections not overheat.
2 stage heaters add a third heating element that only comes on if the first two elements arent warming the house up fast enough like trying to warm up a cold house that had the heat turned off or like during freeze conditions outside. so its there to be used only when needed which is usually after the heater runs for 5-6 minutes and the house isnt warming up fast enough.
its controlled by the thermostat so you also have a 2 stage heating thermostat that you need to go with it.

You're talking a heat pump. OP, I believe, is talking gas furnace heating.

i think you are wrong, he said nothing at all about it a heat pump, if it was a heat pump the electric heat "is" your second stage heating, but then, "some" heat pumps use gas furnace for the second stage heating, but in most cases its all electric.
