it’s amazing how many people use their corporate laptop for personal shite as well. I get simple stuff, but IT came to me about a year ago. Some middle manager was watching porn on not only his laptop, but on the company WiFi. Apparently he found some obscure site the company filters hadn’t blocked. How f’ing stupid can you be?????
Fired for being an idiot.
Fired for being an idiot.

If indeed that is the same person--and I don't know that--then he's Matthew Taylor Allen, a Louisiana lawyer, per the Louisiana State Bar Association online directory, admitted September 4, 2020 (covid class, no bar exam) and not or no longer with Blanchard, Walker, O'Quin & Roberts of Shreveport, but instead with Webre & Associates of Lafayette, whose website does not list him.
Different guy.

Same name, both legal field (although the arrestee is apparently not actually a lawyer), both have worked in Caddo Parish. So an easy mistake to make. But not the same person.
Upon further review, there appears to be a good chance you're correct and my post above mixed up the two. I've edited my post and tried to explain succinctly.
And if so, then the story makes a bit more sense. And it reminds me of incident about fifteen or twenty years ago, when the administrator at a New Orleans lawfirm put his ... traveling companion (he insisted that's all she was!) on the firm payroll and paid her like $250k before the stuff hit the fan.

Most lawyers don't have any business management background. Some of them are too arrogant to know what they don't know. Even the ones who know something about business would rather be earning billable hours than making sure the books balance. They're at the mercy of staff who may be underpaid and resentful of it. It's a recipe for disaster if the firm doesn't have a rigorous audit program. Which again takes money out of the lawyers' pockets so they let it slide.
I heard from someone with knowledge of the situation that this happened a few months ago. The firm gave him time to make restitution. When he didn't, they pressed charges.
