Shreveport nightlife downtown is pretty legit. doesn't close til 6
Ha ah, no it's not.
Shreveport is a great place to raise a family, but not a good place to party. I did some of nightlife things a few weeks ago and was shocked at how things have changed. I lot of 20 to 35 yr old Shreveport people that used to make it fun now live somewhere else.

I don't get out much anymore, so someone can help me out, but here is a list of things to do if y'all do come
casinos - El Dorado or Horseshoe
bars - Noble Savage, the Cub, Bears
Great Raft brewery/taproom
don't know what type of restaurants y'all would want

Fishing is awesome. A coworker from Maryland wa a big bass fisher and said it was amazing.
Call the tourism bureau and set up a private tour of the Shreveport Municipal Auditorium.
Visit the Norton Art Gallery, it's free.
LA State Exhibit museum is also really neat to visit.
If you are looking for beach party, the Vegas strip or the French Quarter, you will be disappointed.

Not sure if serious.
Sounds like I should veto Shreveport. Thanks gents.

if he is in Dallas and just wants to get away, do Austin or something

Your loss. Fishing is great, so is the Muni.
Like everyone has said though, not really a destination for reliving the glory days for more than a weekend.

I grew up there, and although I don't bash it, it's a terrible choice for this, unless your group is a bunch of nerds.

Austin is looking like the choice.

Seriously, don't do any of those. They are great for a family reunion with your grandmother but not a guys trip.
The only thing Shreveport has your interested in is good fishing.

Austin
If that's an option, yes.

Since we've flushed a bunch of the "Shreveport sucks" group out, I'll counter with this:
Barksdale Global Power Museum
I haven't been there, personally, but I hear great things. Has to be worth half a day - there are probably a number of cool things to do at Barksdale if you like bombers and such.

This is the correct choice if driving distance is a concern. And if you like fishing the fishing on Lake Austin is actually pretty good. My neighbor will only fish Lake Austin because he likes it so much. We have caught good fish there.

Skip Shreveport & hit up Lake Charles, LA.
Stay at Lauberge Casino & go off shore fishing.
