there's no need in using something as tough as epoxy. a good coat of acrylic exterior paint protects wood outside for many years. it will stand up to 30 minutes per day of a shower

Schluter Orange fabric and thinset. This is the only answer period. Do not use epoxy.

Sounds good. It may only see a shower once a week or so. Its the kids bath and they are all under the age of 5.

I'll look into this. Never though about skimcoat.. ..perhaps a skimcoat the paint it with the exterior color to match my bathroom walls...
