Different water begs different solutions. CLR or Zep may work where you are but not in B R. Cerium oxide and 0000 steel wool works. Emphasis on work. Bio Clean w steel wool might work.

No clue, I pay someone to do that for me.

I heard that simple green works well.

Once the glass is pitted, there is nothing that works and I tried a lot of concoctions.

As a prevention, a daily shower spray is you best bet. Here I s my recipe I found online. It is cheap and so for after two years, I have no scum or water spots. Just spray the shower walls and door after each shower.

1 cup denatured alcohol. Gallon at Home Depot. $15.98
1 cup 3% hydrogen peroxide. Gallon on Amazon. $11.19
2 tablespoons Dawn dish soap.
2 tablespoons dishwasher rinse aid.
2 teaspoons scented oil.
6 cups distilled water.

This will make 1/2 gallon of spray. I had initially purchased a 64oz bottle of a Wet and Forget shower spray. I have been reusing that as the spray bottle.

Last time my shower door got dingy i used a dish sponge on it. Then I moved to a new apartment without a glass shower door. It's working out well for me so far.

I tried this and it didn't work for long at all...rainX couldn't hold up to hot water and soap a hundred or so times per month.

I have come to the conclusion the glass is etched. Will try suggestions for etched glass later in the week and will report back.

When you do get the doors cleaned off. Coat them with RainX.

No chemical cleaner will do the trick. I will tell you what works like a charm. Wet/dry sandpaper. Use it wet. Start at 1000 then move to 2000, then 3000 if you want. I promise you it works flawlessly. By far, it's better than every single thing I have tried. Look it up.

You can probably start with 2000 or 3000 but that will require a little more elbow grease.

I sell shower doors.

1) Barkeepers Friend and a magic eraser is your fist option. That gets most of them out.

2) If that doesn't work, then it's likely penetrated the glass. You can use a cerium oxide solution and a polishing wheel on your drill/sander. The door needs to be flat for this.

3) If that doesn't work, you're SOL.

As for preventative measures, others have mentioned Rain-X. That works, but you need to apply it about once a month. Then there are specific products such as CRL's TPC surface protector that last a few months. Your big option is something like Clear Shield, or equivalent. It comes with a 10 year warranty. A local glass company can get some of this and field-apply it for you. Not cheap, though.
