Whatever you do make sure you have BCAAs daily. Gotta keep up that protein synthesis.

depends, what are your macros? are you able to get that with real food? If not then yes you should, if not, just eat.

uhhh, yeah.

Protein helps rebuild muscle. So on workout days when you tear up the muscles, rest days are when they rebuild and grow, so of course you want protein on those days to aid in the process.

thats not true at all. lifting heavy improves protein synthesis especially around the workout.

and to the OP unless you are advanced just shoot for a gram per lBS of BW. If you can get that with real food, do it.

As opposed to what? Eating only carbs that day?

Your protein shake has about 1/3 of the protein of a chicken breast. And makes you fart all day. Just eat decent protein and you'll be okay.

While I agree with the fact that you should get protein from food, there is nothing wrong with supplementing with whey protein. Most anyone who is an active lifter supplements with whey protein.

Also you are so far off with your numbers it's not even funny. Optimum gold, one of the most popular products on the market, has 120 calories and 24 grams of protein. A boneless, skinless chicken breast(4oz) has 120 calories and 26 grams of protein.

I make my shakes with 16 oz skim milk and 3 scoops of combat whey. So as you said mine after workout is around 90 grams of protein which is 3x a chicken breast not 1/3 of it.

personally, I do.

But, the best answer is to eat more protein and get it throuhg those sources.

I guess it also depends if you're bulking or not. I'm permabulk so I always am drinking it with my fiber supplement.

Op needs to elaborate, what's your diet look like on rest days, how intense is the cardio, what's your overall goal, etc
