A man who was shot in a car in New Orleans' Central Business District on Tuesday afternoon (Aug. 14), prompting a major police response, has died from his injuries, according to NOPD spokesman Andy Cunningham.

Three people were at large in connection to the shooting in the Central Business District, which occurred in the 900 block of Gravier Street at about 2:11 p.m. Tuesday afternoon (Aug. 14).

The man, who EMS officials said was in his mid-30s, was in a car with the three suspects when he was shot, NOPD 8th District Cmdr. Nicholas Gernon said at the scene.

A suspect in a fatal shooting in New Orleans' Central Business District Tuesday jumped out of a moving car and could be seen "flying" running up the ramps of a parking garage as he escaped from the scene of the shooting, according to a man who reviewed surveillance footage of the shooting.

Police said the man was in the car with 3 other people when he was shot and critically injured. He died later at a local hospital.

The three other people in the car fled after the shooting - two of them ran down Gravier, while the third went into the parking garage, according to 8th District Cmdr. Nicholas Gernon. Police established a perimeter and searched the garage with K9 units and a SWAT team, but the suspect escaped through an emergency exit and evaded capture, Gernon said.

Scheuermann said the security footage shows that suspect hopping out of the car as it goes into reverse. The car then hit the building, though not hard enough to break the window.

The man then ran into the parking garage, and the footage shows him running up the ramps to the top floor with a gun in his hand, Scheuermann said the surveillance footage shows.

"He was flying running up those ramps," he said.

Without anywhere to go once he hit the roof, the man came back down taking the emergency stairs in the parking garage, before the security footage caught him walking out through the O'Keefe Avenue exit, Scheuermann said.

When he got out of the garage, however, he drastically slowed his pace and walked slowly toward Canal Street, he said.

Damn the Baw left behind 5 children in what can be described as a hit from Haitian mobsters from Miami.

"It's unbelievable this happened" Tori Francois said of her husband's killing. "We don't know anybody here."

A relative told The New Orleans Advocate that May Francois left Florida to escape prior problems and to start a new life.

Court records show he was serving out a five-year sentence of probation that he received in 2016 following an armed robbery conviction in Miami-Dade.

"Whatever he had in Miami, that was his past," the relative told The Advocate. "He was a great man, a great leader, a great friend, and a great father."

Has the OT set up a gofundme yet for this great leader? I mean he just left five children alone thanks to his great leadership and decision making skills.

That's so sad. New Orleans is such a massive pile of shite. I don't know why anybody would live there, or move a family there.

What a massive shithole.

We need a border wall at the Miss/Louisiana line to stop these Floridians from corrupting our great state.
