Shoe Repair/Cobbler recommendations in Houston area or by mail

Looking for someone to re-sole some Allen Edmonds shoes. Allen Edmonds recrafting services won't put on the JR Rendenbach soles I want unless the shoes are cordovan (which is ridiculous). But I haven't found anyone locally either. I'd like to find someone I trust to do good work. I've had some so-so work done locally before, such as stitching the welt and missing all the previous holes. I'd like to use these shoes as a trial run for work done on any more valuable pairs I have.
I know of a few places you can mail your shoes in and I trust their abilities after seeing them on youtube and such. But they also charge a a lot. Especially if you want closed channel stitching orspecial requests like that.

Risk Shoes in Sherman, Texas. I've been mailing my Allen Edmond shoes to them for years. Naif Risk is a great guy and they do excellent work. You mail them the shoes, and they send them back quickly.
ETA: I've sent them some real beater shoes, only to have them sent back looking great.

I'll check them out if the world doesn't end this weekend 
. Just started buying in the 500+ range and want to make sure I'm comfortable with who's working on them. I've got about 4 pairs that'll need to be resolved before the Carmina's I just bought, so I'll be testing the waters.
I also bought a pair of shoe trees through Carmina, but they forgot to ship them. at 90 bucks it was easy to have buyers remorse and tell them to just cancel the order. So far, some simple woodlore split toe shoe trees are my favorite. any rec's?
I've lurked for a while and know a few of you guys have some decent shoe collections.
