Survey of the Lawrence-Linwood tornado. EF-4 with the highest rating right on Linwood. Still very lucky in three ways.
1. 18 injuries, no fatalities
2. A slight jog to the left and it goes straight through the middle of Lawrence. A slight jog to the right and instead of the EF-4 damage occuring in Linwood it occurs in either Eudora or DeSoto, both towns of about 5,000 people instead of 400 people.
3. It lifted right when it was just about to enter an area that was populated by hundreds of thousands of people.
Topeka NWS Site
