Anyone do this recently? What all do I need to do/give them? Can I just sign the Louisiana title and print up a simple bill of sale? Notary needed? TIA

I'm not sure about LA to TX, but my Aunt (GA) gave my son (AL) a truck when he was 15. We just got the title + bill of sale and did a title transfer at the DMV. They did inspect the vehicle because it was titled in Georgia (to make sure it was in proper running order) before they let us register it in Alabama.

My aunt signed the title and bill of sale, nothing else was required.

I am not sure what TX requires but I would get both the bill of sale and title notarized. Give them a copy of your drivers license also just in case.

This is what LA would require if it was the other way around.

Probably overkill, but that way you shouldn’t have to fool with it again.

Just sign the title over to them. I know, I was shocked. Just sold a car a few months ago to a guy in Marshall, TX.

I was ready with a copy of my license, bill of sale and get it all notarized as required here, but TX just needs a title signed over.

Just go to a title place that can do everything a DMV can. It's so easy, they tell you what to do.

Make sure to remove the LA license plate, and return to DMV or you will get a flag on your driver's license.
