You should identify as a person that can remember who he is calling and ask for that person.

Ours answers the phone that way as we are 3 independent lawyers who share an office and staff. Not like I'm going to actually be "available" to talk to you anyway, unless you just got maimed by an Exxon truck.

I would prefer if they said an abbreviated version of the firm's name.

Answered a call last week from an architect looking for a coworker. Asked him who he was with and I swear the acronym he gave me was either 5 or 6 letters long (I lost track). Just use the first name on the list damnit. I know it sucks for the other partners, but tough shite.

I fired a receptionist because she kept answering the phone like that. Gave her countless warnings.

But I'm a dentist.

My Father worked at a firm where he was senior partner. My Uncle held the second spot. So it was Blah, Blah, Grumble and Talk.

I called one time and the receptionist replied with the name of the firm. I replied "May I speak with Speak Blah, this is Discus Blah. She replied Can you repeat you name please?"So I repeated it slowly and loudly. Thinking she just hadn't heard me. Then she asked "Can you spell me your last name?" I said, "B-L-A-H." There was silence for several seconds, then she replied with a meek "Oh".

What you should take from this story, is receptionist aren't the brightest people in the world. That's why they are receptionist.

The firm got a real kick out of this story, when I told it to them..

Your Mom might have legally became a Blah woman when she married your Dad but I knew her before all that.

BTW, I love flying Blah Airlines.

Give her a break, she's tired of running. Eventually the law office will get a phone in the kitchen
