While I agree with the sentiment, particularly since we have a Governor that does not believe in life sentences I loathe the cost and process of a capital trial.
The jackass gets a private cell as the state ends up paying a private law firm millions for a defense while paying an equal amount for the prosecution by the time appeals are exhausted 15 years later. I would rather toss his arse in genpop at Angola for life.

Had to read a little mor ebackground on the case:
Barrette is accused of killing three people during a shooting spree in Metairie in June. Once arrested he was also linked to another murder in New Orleans.
In total, Barrette is suspected of killing four people and trying to kill another three. He faces multiple murder charges.

I should have put a better link. He has had issues on some level for a while. Walked on at Mississippi State in 2014.

No, we don't. But it will not keep folks from trying. I mean, they have used twinkies in an attempted defense.
I have always thought it should be GUILTY by reason of mentel defect and not NOT GUILTY. It should POSSIBLY be a defense for making it second degree rather than first degree murder at best.
