Sea lice, also known as beach lice, have been confirmed in South Walton and Santa Rosa Beaches, and they may be moving west towards Alabama.

How long does this usually hang around for. We are going end of July.
I know that picture is pretty harsh, but, how serious is this in the big picture? Is everyone going into the water affected or only a small percentage?
We are going with our 3 small children (8 , 6 and 4) and 2 of them have sensitive skin.

Sea lice
The fact that they're not actually lice, but jellyfish larvae, creeps me out a little less.

I've been going to the gulf coast beach for over 40 years and have never heard of sea lice before. If these are just the larvae of the jellyfish, and there has always been jellyfish along the gulf coast, why is sea lice just becoming an issue (or being reported) now?
