Not long, been playing since I was 9 but got back to a 4-5 handicap a lot faster after making rugrats probably play closer to a 6-7 now, I can shoot 74 or 84 pretty easy.

Two years. 15 to 17 years old.

I play a Titleist driver and wedges, TaylorMade fairway woods, Cleveland Irons, Odyssey putter.

How long did it take you to get there? What's in your bag? Just picking up the clubs again after a year plus off. Was probably a 15 handicap, would be lucky to break 100 today.

Is it just me or does everybody have trouble with that windmill thing?

A handicap is calculated on the 10 best rounds of the last 20 rounds played. So it is a measure of a golfer on their best days- not their worst.

Also, included is you can't take but a certain score on any hole, depending on your handicap. Something around a 7 is the highest score you can take, whether it's a par 3 or par 5, if your handicap is 10 - 19.

For example, if you shot an 85, but took an 8 on a hole, your score submitted would be 84.

Started when I was 12, was scratch by 16, and plus by 18.

I think the best part about being scratch is bring able to take months off at a time and still go out and shoot around par

Yea, 3 months.... that's not typical. Don't hold yourself to that standard.

Scratch means you'll shoot par on every hole.

Not exactly. Depends on the course and slope rating for the course you are playing.

I grew up on a course that had a 68.something course rating. I'd shoot low 70's (70-75) the majority of the times I played back then. My handicap back then was closer to a 5 or 6. That was at that course though, I could barely break 90 at a tough course. Took a long time after high school for me to change my swing enough to shoot low scores at tougher courses.

Funny thing is, I don't play at all anymore but understand the swing so much more. I could probably get down to a single digit handicap in a month if I could get to the range and play a round a couple times a week.

Move up a tee or two until you can break 90. It's supposed to be fun.

117 is punishment.
