They had a local story on him recently and he said one of the biggest things he has missed is eating dinner without shite floating all around you. Said he is going to be very happy to eat a sit-down dinner with the family. I call bullshite...after they get you "normalized" we all know that several trips to poundtown are on your list fella!

Scott's brother Mark is a retired astronaut. NASA researchers are doing extensive studies on them both to see the effects of long duration space travel.

Also noteworthy, he has an identical twin, so the medical discoveries on extended space travel are going to be pretty substantial.

I was at an HSE conference over the summer and he was the keynote speaker. He talked about some fascinating stuff. He said him and the brother will be the two most studied humans on the planet.

Understandable. There's only been 4 other people that have spent more consecutive time in space. Being twins, these 2 are basically going to be the medical guinea pigs for future, farther travel into the galaxy. Remarkable.

He also told some bad arse stories from his fighter pilot days in the military.

I'd find it hard to believe that his twin on Earth was subjected to the same diet as his astronaut brother was, but still.

I'm not sure - his brother was also an astronaut, so volunteering to eat the same foods that his brother ate on the ISS isn't hard to imagine. May not be an astronaut but still a scientist, and almost certainly willing to participate.

One of the main reasons he was chosen. That and the fact he was sort of being punished for an undisclosed reason.

Yeah, screw a guy for having an opinion that differs from your opinion, especially if his opinion was formed because of a life-altering shooting that nearly killed his wife and killed six other people.

As for Scott Kelly, he is always posting awesome pictures on his instagram page.

You'd probably lean a bit to the anti-gun side if your wife was shot in the head in an assassination attempt.

That water color is ridiculous. I'm sure it's got a nice Instagram filter on there...but still.

ETA: Sadly, it doesn't look nearly as cool on Google Maps

Doesn't look frozen either (the google maps pic). I'm sure being frozen (and yes, Instagram filters too) has something to do with color change as well. Being frozen adds some color it seems. Here's a pic from earth, but you can see it isn't as deep blue.
