You must be one of the poors if you've never heard of an odorometer. Got one on my keychain that detects olfactory offensive bathrooms from 15 meters away. Only cost 13k euros.

A hydrogen sulfide sensor is about $40 on eBay. It would take another $15 to turn it into a wireless sensor you could check from your phone.
