Given the fact they were awarded a government permit to operate the slide, unless it is proven to be an intentional act that resulted in the death, I do not personally believe jail time is warranted. There are many non-jail time penalties and remedies that are warranted here.

The one caveat is this: If it can be proven they misled/lied/bribed to the state when getting the permit / on inspections, then I think if "no" engineering/studies/etc were done, or if said studies were obviously faked/doctored, then I could see a small amount of jail time (2-3 years) as appropriate.

But again, how was this permitted if they had no engineering? I don't think bad/faulty engineering warrants jail time.
