So sorry. We considered getting a dog around the time COVID hit. We found a registered breeder of Shih Tzu’s. Got him in May of 2020. I was the least sold on the idea at the time. Our daughter did an excellent job training him, then headed back to college in the fall. Best ( and laziest) dog you could ask for.
Ollie will be 4 in April. And now, I wouldn’t trade him for all the riches in the world. I absolutely dread the day I have to do what you had to.
I know it’s probably been said in these forums before, but when it is time, be in the room with them when they are put down. Pet them and love them as they drift off to their eternal sleep. I understand it will be tough, but what is worse is your companion on a cold steel table with only the vet in the room, scared and confused, wondering where you went. Their final moments should be dominated by your love for them.

No words will bring her back or make you feel any better. I lost mine unexpectedly last October. She was 6 years old. I have 3 healthy boys but she was my girl. No one will ever understand either. I just got a puppy similar to her but I continually compare them unfairly and hope she ends up like her predecessor. I am truly sorry for your loss and now how it feels.
