I'm glad I accepted my mediocrity long ago.
I accepted it a few months back.

Took a high profile gig last year, I never stopped working. 7 days/week. After 9 months had to go to the ER and while I'm getting fluid and meds, I'm seeing if they have wifi.

Everyone is different, though.

I am currently at my office working on the first day of college football but honestly if I am not going 90 MPH 24/7 I get more depressed. It's just who I am and I have tried to change for relationships in the past but I can't. I take a breather here and there but I would rather be buried in work.

Disclaimer: when I built out my office space I added a TV/game room that is only connected to my office (none of my employees have access to it) so that I could put a sofa and TV in there because I knew I would be working during football season. It also has an Xbox One for when I take breaks.

One of the cool boss things I hope to be able to do one day.

some people live to work and some work to live

I'm not saying one is right, but I think it's important to realize which one works for you. It's all about what makes you happy.

I don't doubt that some people legit enjoy work. And I think many business owners who work hard truly have a passion for it.

I'm not one of those people and I'm just glad I'm not trying to be one anymore

For sure. Wish more people could grasp that concept.

Yes, it is about truly being who you are and not what others want/expect you to be. One way or the other.

I felt so...I guess inadequate is the right word because I had a job that gave me a ton of time off and I never took my work home. I was surrounded by people who had flashier jobs and I started to feel like I had the ability to do it and maybe I was underutilizing my talents. So when I was approached with the opportunity to take a big time job, I felt like I had to.

At the end of the day, I realized what made me happy and I was very fortunate that my previous gig was excited to have me back.

If anyone ever wanted my career advice at least I have the experience to be able to give them a straight up honest answer

Yea i know what that is like. I was only ever really good at one thing in my life: basketball. I got hurt and had to "retire" from bball at 20, and its not like i was nba bound or anything, but my plan of going to Europe and spending my twenties there went to shite and i lost my way a bit. Im 31 now and i make a decent living as a painter, but i spend a good amount of time plucking petroleum based paint out of my hair. A lot of my peers who finished school have all these great things and great lives, and i know im always gonna be me, but thatd okay. As long as im living, thats good enough for me. If life gets too hard we just gotta take a break and focus on our blessings. Just gotta keep putting one foot in front of the other. One foot, the other...one foot, the other.

Doesn't hurt sometimes to put them side by side and stop for a while, maybe change directions.

Not OTing it here, but your response is a great example of the problem with suicide issues in our society.

In what respect? I'm just noting that this douche cannot enter a single thread, not even one about a poster that committed suicide, without making it about himself and his supposed success.
