Harold Hamm can go take his billions and eat shite. He took advantage of the market when the Saudis kept prices high, now he is eating the arse end.

doesn't the Russian budget require a substantially higher price of oil in order to be balanced? This move could make sense for the Saudis,

If you cut the price in half and double the output you make the same amount of money.

He is correct and this needs to addressed very quickly. National security is at stake..a number of you may be younger and don't remember days of long gas lines..if our shale companies are shut down...the consumer is put at risk.
In addition, we don't need to see $4 a gallon gas along the Gulf Coast..that would probably translate into $6+ in places like CA.

War is just politics by other means. We owe the Saudis for 9-11 also. They are the classic “frenemy” of the US.

frick both of those fricking countries. I hope when this corona mess passes we bend them over our knee. Wouldn’t surprise if half the hysteria is being fueled and pumped by the Russians anyways. Vladimir Putin can kiss my American arse. So can whoever the shithead princes of Saudi Arabia are who are taking advantage of us right now. Chickens better come home to roost.

Saudi is estimated to be $10-20 per barrel and the Russians range from estimated $20 in legacy giant fields to closer to $65 in their arctic plays. Saudi has the whole house of saud and payments to its subjects though.

You are spot on.

Saudi’s costs are about $20 bucks a barrel. However, it is the massive government programs that push the need to get oil to $80 a barrel to make the budget work. They ran a deficit for the first time 5 to 10 years ago. Govt spending there is crazy high.

Russia is upset partly because of the geopolitical aspects, the US has power to levy sanctions because of “near” energy independence. We’ve levied sanctions against their biggest oil company, also on Venezuela and Iran. A big reason reason we can do that is because we have record production here in the US, they want to take that power.
