Rouses is also looking for a chicken voice to be the voice of Houma de Chicken.

Houma Courier

quote:

Adjacent to the current location on 2233 Martin Luther King Blvd, the 60,000-square-foot store will open at 8 a.m. Wednesday. All employees from the old store will transfer to the new location, and Owner Donny Rouse estimates 75 new employees were hired. In total the new location employs 225 people.

quote:

Martin Folse, of HTV, will be conducting auditions for the store's new mascot from 10 to 11 a.m. as part of their Houma Da Chicken campaign to advertise Rouses fried chicken. The winner will be the new voice for social media. The name of the mascot will be announced Wednesday. "And yes, we bought Martin a chicken costume," Creative Director Marcy Nathan said. "Martin is the MC for audition to be the chicken."

Might be the safest MLK road in the country.

Safest in terms of violence. Not so safe in terms of Houma’s shitty drivers.

Tunnel Boulevard Extension/LA 3040

MLK/Tunnel Boulevard is a 4 lane bypass of Houma’s downtown. Fun fact when it reaches downtown, the street becomes Bond and Honduras Streets before entering the Tunnel. And when you exit the Tunnel it becomes East Tunnel Boulevard.

In terms of commerce, almost all of Houma’s commercial shopping is done along MLK which features a number of commercial establishments like Walmart, Target, Academy, Hooters, Texas Roadhouse, car dealerships, Best Buy, Lowes, Home Depot, Sam’s, and Rouses.

The biggest issue about MLK and safety is the 5 lane configuration with a turn lane in the middle. There are markings to suggest turn lanes and ingress lanes in the center, but no one follows them and if someone is crazy enough they will try to cross all 5 lanes to go from Walmart to Best Buy. Also DOTD has left the speed limit at the original 50 MPH when there was nothing but trees and a Walmart, a Service Merchandise, and Rouses on the road.

You’ve gone peak elder millennial when you are excited by a grocery store.

Wish Rouses cared enough about all their stores to fix all the crappy ones.

I understand the cost and difficulty of re-configuring the road to include a median and turn lanes. But the blatant stupidity of not even changing the speed limit to 35 mph is mind boggling. Any time I'm in that area, I am in awe that it's still perfectly acceptable to fly through all that at 50 mph.

They need to tear it up and reconfigure it to be like Vets in Metairie

Different kind of danger. You might not get shot but the traffic will get you. I feel much better taking a right on MLK to get home from work than when I had to take a left
