Okay. So why wouldn’t they re-new their lease they’ve had for almost 25 years??

It’s not like three months ago, there was a tragic incident at all in the same mines...

this

in my ignorance I presume that you wouldn't have any in the wetlands of S LA. Hell you hardly ever see basements or cellars in BR/NO

So will anyone else take over the lease for the salt mine? Or is Tabasco gonna stop leasing out the land?

I heard the cost to insure operations in the mine are now insane.

Doesn’t sound like anyone is taking it over. Yet at least.

Big blow for Iberia Parish. Mine creates a decent amount of jobs.

Then you probably never heard of the Texaco drilling disaster in 1980. They were starting a new well in Lake Peigneur. Diamond Crystal Salt Company was operating a salt mine in that area where part of the mine was under the lake. Texaco drilled into the mine and drained the lake.

McIllhenney does not want any more mining from what I hear. Lot of sink holes on the island now. Vinaigrette and hot peppers are way more lucrative

That’s too bad. It was always cool that they sort of worked in tandem. Isn’t the salt from the mine also used to seal the tobasco barrels?

Wow, that’s crazy looking. I don’t think I could ever work in that kind of environment.
