Have AppleTV - love it! Netflix is amazing on it, compared with my old Wii format. Only downside is can't get Amazon with it.

I have amazon on my apple TV...

I have roku 3 and Plex Media server on my PC. I go to the plex channel on the roku and view any media file/folder on my PC. Minimal set up required to choose which files and folder to have on the server.

it sounds like that only works for downloaded things. the thing with chromecast is you can go to streaming sites and watch virtually anything and have it show up on your tv. roku's 100+ channels dont really matter if you can just find it online and stream it to your tv through chrome

Chromecast can cast your tab from goolge chrome which I love.

Roku stick would be great too because of the apps, and its cheap.

Apple tv is nice but expensive for something that the other two can accomplish.

You pay for what you get pops

There is a reason why apple has sold more appleTV devices than chromecast and roku combined

I'll give you that apple fan boys push it hard, but the quality is what your paying for, pops

Having said that, I own appleTV and chromecast

They each have their own advantages, appleTV for music, pictures, Mac streaming

Chromecast for the bedroom for Netflix and hbogo

When you are paying for things with your hard earned money and not your parents money. You look at things differently.

You just knew this thread was going to end up this way.

The man asked for input. Throw your two cents in about a product that you are familiar with, and let the man make his own damn decision on how he chooses to spend his money.

With a Roku and chromecast I get every cable channel there is for free.

People that pay $100 a month for TV are dumb

It isn't hyperbole or fanboi blathering when I say that AppleTV's different (read: multiple) methods for streaming/sharing content from an iOS device to your TV are superior to that of Google.

Chromecast doesn't actually do this wirelessly. It actually streams it using your wifi network. AppleTV can view things using WiFi or actually "Mirror" whatever's on your iOS or Mac Screen.

I have a coworker who owns a Chromecast and complains that the sound lags and the streaming quality isn't as good as their AppleTV.

Apple also has far more outfits running compatible apps and streaming content for them than does Google. Some of that is due to Apple having been in this sector since 2007. Google is rather new to this market by comparison. But right now? You get tons more content on AppleTV.

EXAMPLE: for kids, you can get three separate Disney Channels/Apps alone on AppleTV.

Just my take, but I'd go with a refurb AppleTV from Apple. Their refurb a go for $85 w/a warranty.

Yup.

I had a roku hd And I loved it.

Got it about 3 years ago. And it did everything I wanted.
don't know much about the other items.

But with the chromecast you can stream movies from sites and have it play on your tv? Like if I was streaming a ufc fight on firstrowsports?

If so I'm buying one later today
