Risk assessment of crime versus risk assessment of Covid - New Orleans

Reading this board's assessment of violent crime in New Orleans you would think that we all need to be riding around in armored cars with body guards to live here.
I'm not downplaying the impact of crime, but it has very little impact on how we live here day to day. I can't think of one concession i make to crime in how i live.
I've lived here for over 20 years and i can think of very few people i know that have been impacted by violent (armed robbery, rape, assault murder) crime. Therefore i believe that i am at very low risk to be a victim. Sure it could happen but the chances are very low.
I treated COVID the same way. My assessment that i was at very low risk for death and lived my life accordingly from May 2020 on.
Frankly i know a far greater number of people that have had significant impact from COVID (Death in family or serious health consequences) than have been victims of violent crime in New Orleans.
I would say the majority on this board made the logical assessment of COVID risk, but seem to have an irrational fear of violent crime.

You have more chance of being harmed by a certain “factor” in BR or NOLA than you do of Rona but you don’t see any politicians trying to eliminate that pestilence.

Bruh, I live in Nola and this is just stupid. You surely make concessions from leaving nothing in your car, to the time of day/place you'll fill up your tank.
I get your point, but to act like crime is so trivial here you don't have to think about it is ridiculous.

Note i said violent crime. I certainly employ strategies to deter petty crime. FWIW - my car has been rifled through one time in 20 years.

Im betting most of the people that constantly stoke the fear porn flames about New Orleans live in gated communities in ascension parish. They probably place a firm hand on their concealed carries when they see a black person at the grocery store.
Then on the weekends they drive here with their wives and kids and spend money, but on Monday they’ll make a post about how it’s less safe than Mogadishu. It’s bizarre.

Sounds like DandJohn owes his woman’s DandyPimp some money.
ETA: I agree with DandyJohn in this feud.
