One of kind New Orleans icon.
How you figure? He hasn’t lived in New Orleans for decades. Rarely did he even visit.
Harry Connick Jr is more of a New Orleans icon than Dr John was
Allen Toussiant is a New Orleans icon
Trombone Shorty is a New Orleans Icon
Cyril & Aaron Neville as well
There are many others that I’d put above Dr John as New Orleans icons.

Even George Clinton is a bigger New Orleans icon than Dr John

Not on the same level as Dr.John.
The rest of your list is good. But Shorty isn’t as iconic as DJ. It’s an age thing.

I forgot about Kermit Ruffins

This is a stupid post.
Harry Connick lives in New York. He is New Orleans
Wynton Marsalis and Louis Armstrong moved to New York, they are New Orleans
The Neville Brothers and Meters are New Orleans even though they moved to Nashville.
Dr. John is New Orleans even though he lived in L.A.
To make it big you pretty much have to move out of New Orleans, it's a shite town. Nobody moves to New Orleans to make it big. Only N.Y. or L.A. sometimes Orlando.

This dude obviously has some personal issue with Dr. John. Pretty pathetic

The difference is, all those guys regularly came back and still do.
Dr John only came around after Katrina and a Jazz Fest or 2
He sold out on New Orleans. That’s not a secret

Nothing personal. I just don’t think we should put up a statue and crown him as an icon of New Orleans.

Still money in his old age.
Sometimes I feel like a motherless child.
