The best leaders at the local level are the ones that prioritize their community over their political party. The ones you can leave a 20 minute conversation with and have no clue which political party they represent.
Kip was one of those.
I had the honor of working 1:1 with him for about 6 years. He’s the reason I’m still in Baton Rouge.
Hopefully St. Peter had a glass bottle of Bud Heavy waiting on him this morning.

I had heard he was sick, but genuinely so sad to hear the news this morning. I can’t figure out why more politicians haven’t copied his playbook. It just worked…and that’s a big accomplishment for an afflicted Southern city.
To go on a tangent, was anyone else surprised to hear he was only 72? I would’ve thought him further along than that.
