Riot effects on public transportation projects

Until a year ago, every neighborhood within 20 miles of the city center wanted a light rail/train/subway stop close by. Will the riots change this desire? Will there be a “donut” of wealthy suburb type neighborhoods outside the city center, with poor people living in the city center and distant suburbs? Not even considering driverless Uber in this scenario.

Years ago Gwinnett County, Northeast of Atlanta, was a largely white suburban and fast growing area of Atlanta.
MARTA was wanting to extend its rail line into Gwinnett County and at the time, Gwinnett leaders said "No thank you. We don't want to being crime to our county."

Was Marta ever popular? Neighborhoods were gentrified along the light rail in Charlotte.
