Well still, to a sane person that prizes human life, that’s an exceptionally disturbing proposition. He is somewhat right, but I would oppose wholeheartedly the production of human flesh for consumption. That feels evil to anyone with a conscience, and I’m sure Dawkins feels the same but is playing devil’s advocate here.

If it grows like a fungus and not on a human body i would have no problem eating human meat

What if human meat is grown? Could we overcome our taboo against cannibalism? An interesting test case for consequentialist morality versus “yuck reaction” absolutism.

And this is just retarded pseudo-philosophical click bait.

And?

I mean, it's a really good question actually. If we're talking about meat that's lab grown and was never the actual animal (or person if you need to make the distinction) is it REALLY some moral question any longer, or just a matter of taste? Interesting thought exercise if you're not a child.

He's not suggesting going to eat people here...though, as an atheist, I can tell you if you promise not to tell anyone else, we all eat babies for breakfast each morning.

I guess he started thinking of this when he was with Hogan and Klink in Germany.
Shultz must have looked mighty tasty.

Shapiro would contend that chickens are lower animals and he's right.

And I question the long term nutritional health of eating human meat. If it was perfectly healthy, you'd think there would be historical examples of it that don't have to do with ritual, warfare or starvation.

It’s the only non-instinctual reason. And many people don’t have that instinct.

The only reason you don't eat other people is because your god says it's a bad idea?

No, dumby. I said you either just know it's bad or you have that structure to tell you it's bad. Without the religious structure to confirm its bad-ness, it's a coin flip as to whether you practice it. Many non-Christian people have practiced cannibalism, to poor effect. Those have been isolated people largely unexposed to Christianity. I'm saying simply that with a religious background (I suppose specifically Judeo-Christian), you don't really run into cannibalism. Otherwise, you very well could.

Also, western Judeo-Christianity is the only reason we even have atheism as such.

bullshite. We had atheism before we invented religion.

Obviously, we didn't have a thing before we had a thing. I'm saying that modern western culture, specifically Americanism based in Judeo-Christian values where we (as of yet) do not censor things we don't like and allow ideas truly to flourish, is what has allowed our beloved atheism as it is currently understood to exist.

IDK. I thought these things were understood.

What's a "lower animal?"

There are animals, and not animals. One is not "more evolved" than another. They are simply adapted to best fit into their niche.

And I kind of like Shapiro, honestly.

Sure...but a well made baby, lettuce and tomato sandwich is simply to die for.

Except for that whole communion thing through...

Yummy.

Yes they are, both in the sense of the rate of evolution as well as the overall complexity.

I like him, but his delivery could be less angry and smarmy.

And Milo's right. The NYT never praises anyone they consider to be a threat.

Good job, Hank the cow dog. You've cracked the case. But to humor you: 1) this "sanction" is for "eating" the mere physical embodiment of the Lord himself, both human and uniquely not human--not classic cannibalism; 2) ask any Catholic realistically--it's just communion, symbolic in actuality if nothing else.

For those that down voted, the same happened in promoting Gravy with boards like this giving voice to him.

My only knowledge of the guy is from the shrill shrieking here. My only knowledge of Dawkins is the bitchfests created by those going OMG and his idiot sycophants.

You ignore them and they drown. Give them any validity, negative or positive and they thrive.

Not only that, but I’m pretty sure there are some dastardly affects on people. Kinda like incest, it’s not permitted in the Bible and has bad affects on human life.
