I have a S&W model 29 (I think). It is basically a .357 in a big, heavy frame. I have had it for over 30 years and still like it as much as the day that I bought it.

The model 29 is a 44 mag. Guessing you had a model 27. 357 with an N frame. Still a good piece.

That sounds like it. Talking about it makes me want to take it out to shoot some!

How many home intruders have you faced down at this point?

Zero. I have, however, taken training courses centered around clearing buildings by yourself in the dark. Courses that use simunitions and have people waiting in structures to shoot you...in the dark. So, once again, you don't know what you're talking about.

So basically, you have no experience.

Not saying that you haven't pretended, but there is a big difference clearing knowing you won't be shot and walking into your living room with an unknown.

In that event, I don't want a confrontation, or I want them walking through the door at me.

Just my opinion, me vs 400 sq ft of unknown or me vs a doorway to defend.

Uh, yes I do. There was someone there waiting to shoot me with simunition rounds that hurt when they hit you. It's a very real scenario that shows you the reality of these confrontations and what you should/shouldn't do. I realize that telling you that you're wrong hurts your feelings, but you'll just have to get used to it.

The concepts and tactics are exactly the same.

Nor do I and I'm definitely not going to telegraph my location to that person either. Once again, not a difficult concept.

Who exactly is it you fear breaking into your home?

I really am wondering who you are preparing for in these scenarios.

Best I can tell they are an aggressive yet non aggressive military type looking only to attack other humans.

What does that matter? You think you can predict the kind of person that breaks into your house?

Personally, I keep a 1911 with one in the chamber ready to go in the nightstand.

My wife keeps a .38 in hers and her purse with self defense rounds loaded.

She likes the simplicity of pull the trigger and it goes bang, instead of not carrying one in the chamber of a semi auto for safety...it's her preference, so I don't try to change her way of thinking.

I tried to get her to carry a D/A S/A Sig P239 so she could just keep one in the chamber and D/A the first shot, but she wasn't receptive. And it's better to have her comfortable with what she is shooting than to try to retrain her and build confidence all over again.

Yes. It is pretty predictable. I mean, extremely predictable.

It is a crackhead or opportunity thief. Someone expecting no one to be home.

Ain't para-military waiting to hear footsteps in the next room.
