I went to 3 places that are easily accessible to where I live. All fast food. All fatties.

McDonald's, closed.

Burger King, closed.

Both of these would have marked the first time we would have eaten there in years.

I see a place that is open. Popeye's. Great, we'll get fried chicken. Line is, no exaggeration, 8 deep until it is my turn to order. 6 vehicles ahead of me are all able to order. An employee then walks out and puts a "closed due to flooding" sign on the drive-thru menu board. Car in front of me leaves and the 3 vehicles behind me leave.

This was around 5:30 p.m. I'd like to give Popeye's the benefit of the doubt and think that the manager released their employees early to go and be with their families. However, knowing that this is Popeye's, I am doubtful and believe they closed only because they were getting "too busy" and didn't want to work exceptionally hard at their job to feed their community in need.

'Merica.

Maybe. Maybe not. If they did run out of product, I would expect them to state that as such on their note taped to the order menu board outside.

The true "test" will be if they open today at 11 (or whatever time they open).

And you expected them to be open for you for the only time you'd been in years?

I am going to go out on a limb and say that BrewBachers hires a higher quality employee than Popeye's and one that is generally not afraid to work.

Not just for me, but there were plenty of people who had the same idea as I did yesterday in terms of wanting something quick to go.

Personally, if I am going to get fried chicken, I prefer Leader's in Gonzales (or St. Amant). Always hot. Always fresh. And the people there are exceptionally nice.

It's difficult for me to fathom how someone can be so ignorant. I wonder if there are any reasons why a fast food restaurant may not have access to food or why its employees can't get to work.

I have no doubt that Chic-fil-A will be open today and doing what they can to help the community. And if they can't be open, I'll almost guarantee they will go out of their way when they are open to make a difference.

Popeye's, not so much.

That was definitely close to being the case at the Church's on Florida by BR General.

I'll get more down votes for this ... but ...

Churches > Popeye's on dark meat pieces.

Agreed. It seems kinda selfish to be upset that people making $7 an hour arent busting their arse to get out in this flooding to serve up some fast food.
