I am an outlier as I grew up in Vegas and have been in restaurants since I was 12. Tipping is just a way of life for me

I said it’s shitty for them. So what are the options:

1: keep paying and it’s unaffordable to you so you no longer go. Server gets zero
2. Take the charge out of the tip. Server still gets something, but it pisses them off and they either say something to the owner about how it’s affecting their wages or quit. If they quit, the owner is now short on labor and has opportunity cost. He does what he needs to do to reattract the labor

There has to be a loser in this scenario, there’s no way around that.

Like I said earlier, it would take a real sleezebag to put the server in the position to do your work.

If you're the one that's unhappy. Go do it yourself.

The fact that you have almost 20 times the upvotes to downvotes on your post seemed odd to me, then I reimagined the intelligence of the average OT poster!

It seems to just be too much to expect them to be able to do simple arithmetic!

I said go to speak to ownership or management about your issue with the charge (instead of leaving it up to the server). How cowardly.

You call me dumb but seems you can't read.

Who do you think put the charge on there? This and fast food tip jars are ridiculous. If you don't like the CC fee then don't take CCs,

Y’all do know there are a ton of companies that are doing this not in the restaurant business right?

I own a business and a lot of our distributors and vendors are doing the same.

Yeah, I just paid the 3% processing fee to the dermatologist. It didn't bother me because it was 3% on $33. If I paid by check, cash or bitcoin there is no fee.

So you agree with just taking it out of the servers tip?

No it's not their fault, so if you do go tip , but my advice it to not go to places that do this, I know then the servers get nothing, but it's the owners fault.

Ok, but you're speaking on something different than the original conversation.

One BR restaurant that we frequent charges an added 5% for to-go orders. Because a Styrofoam box is killing their profit margin. Then they have the balls to make you ask for to-go utensils.

I'm guessing this is mainly for the DoorDash people who don't care how much they pay for food. But for us schmoes who drive over to pick it up ourselves, it's pretty damn insulting.
