RES

Has anyone ever dealt with the company RES? Corporate is in Houston, but they have offices across the nation including BR.

Apparently they handle land mitigation for wetlands. I'm just trying to see what I'm dealing with.

That's a pretty open ended question. What are you trying to learn?

Sorry, I've been approached by them to sell a piece of my property. I'm trying to learn who I'm dealing with.

You don't need to sell your property to them to make money for protecting that wetland. You can get a pretty sweet deal just by putting it into a conservation easement.

Ha...no. Generating bankable credits is expensive and difficult. Lots of risk and red tape. Creation of a conservation easement is just one of MANY steps to profit. And it can't just be any old conservation easement. There are lots of corps requirements, planting schedules, etc.

How big of an area are we talking about? The Corps generally wants to see large tracts for mitigation banks. Like was said, you don't have to sell your land to put a conservation easement on it and create a wetland bank. You just can't develop it in the future, but can still use it for hunting.

Yes, but I was on the other end of the deal. Needed to buy credits.

Guy I dealt with was nice enough and handled all the questions and paperwork I needed.

Can you tell me more? Is this something I should consider and how profitable could this be?

Yeah but if all you are doing is setting aside a piece of your property any developer worth a shite will be footing the bill. You're just providing the location.

Not sure I understand what you are trying to say here. Developers have nothing to do with this. The industry is the creation of bankable credits that can be sold, generally, to oil and gas companies so they can impact wetlands in the watershed while installing new pipeline.

A property owner setting up a conservation easement on his own does nothing in that process.

They bought a large amount of land that connects to my property, and now they'd like to buy my property. How valuable is land to large companies like this?

I've actually dealt with them for pipeline mitigation. They're a legit outfit and deliver what their clients need.

That being said, I'm not a landowner but have been a consumer of credits. I'm can't vouch for the experience on the landowner end.

If you want competition contact Delta Land Services and tell them you might like to develop something.

Thanks for the input.
