I just wish the OT would let this go
Yeap......just let the politicians run wild. Sorry, a lot of people are very frustrated about this issue and they are using this board to sound off and let off steam.

You guys repeatedly keep putting this on Mitch when the city council of Nola voted to removed the monuments and their has been a push by the Monumental Task Committee to remove these statues for years. Mitch could not change this if he wanted. they city council has more power than the major on issues like this.
Have you paid attention at all? Your whole post is inaccurate.

Landrieu is going to stand in the way of these statues from being celebrated in anyway possible. If you heard Nunngesser say that Landrieu only wants the statues displayed in the proper context. These statues will end up in the slave museum and be scorned. I just hope Stacey Head uncovers some major offenses in this deal and he goes to jail.

I would love to know statistically where most tourist dollars are spent.
Because going to see St. Louis Catherdral or the Cabildo would register like buying 2 HUGE arse BEERS on Bourbon.

I've been in the cathedral. I love the history of the city. But what if this event becomes part of that beautiful fabric? What if we look back on this 50 years from now as a good thing? History never stops being written and New Orleans isn't done yet.

Wasting money on pandering is NEVER a good thing.

The storm didn't kill it. You really think 4 statues being moved will?

Shows what you know. Katrina absolutely set new Orleans back.

Did I say that? No? Damn that Alabama edumuhkayshun is really top notch eh?
It's been going downhill, and will continue to go down hill. And the more mitch the bitch alienates the tax base to where they continue to get the frick out of dodge, the quicker the fall to detroitism.

I up voted you. You seem like you need the ego boost.

Cute rebuttal.

I've seen some stuff regarding this, what are the details?
Still unfolding, but since we still supposedly have a City Charter that prevents such a thing, the key words at this point are "arbitrary" and "entitlement."
The only station locally that will report on it while it's unfolding is WGSO 990 AM, which is less PC than the rest.
Also, on Wednesday nights at 7:00 pm, there's the "Battle of New Orleans" program.
It's "lively" and might offend some, but addresses the manifold dysfunction presently going on here.

This deputy mayor is a bitch. He claims the statues belong to the people of New Orleans. horseshite. if he believed that then they would still be up. The tax payers for the most part didn't contribute shite to have these statues built. Most of it was collected from private funds that took years to accumulate.

I don't live in Alabama. Calm down. You are really angry. It's not healthy to stay worked up.

Me? Angry? Not at all. Quite the opposite. I smoked a big ole blunt 30 min ago. I'm feeling wonderful.
I just find great amusement in smacking around a dumbass from time to time.

You called the statues insignificant...they're part of the city's history and culture. Far from insignificant DA.

The city wasn't visited because of those monuments.
Apparently enough of them have visited over the years and made their reasons known to an extent that made Lee among our ten most popular tourist attractions.

New Orleans isn't done yet.
I think that is what we are afraid of. Give it 50 years and New Orleans may be remembering the tourism industry like Detroit recalls the auto industry.
