I've been remote for 8 years in the land surveying/engineering field. There are plenty of remote drafting opportunities out there.

Learn CAD or learn to code. Either way, your options all rely on being able to be extremely proficient in some kind of computer technology.

You also need an excellent work ethic. I've seen remote work chew up and spit out an insane number of bodies who thought they could handle it. It's extremely easy to abuse if you have limited deliverable expectations. Jobs the produce some type of deliverable are a little easier to handle but still takes a special person to remain on task for years on end with no one looking over your shoulder. That abuse of power is why so many companies are going back to in-person work.

Wrong.. Some of us are self-directed and motivated and get more done at home than we do at an office surrounded by brown-nosers and kiss-ups…. Some of us dont need to be micro-managed or have our shoulders looked over to make sure we’re getting shite done, since we are not lazy and undisciplined like most of the in-office crowd .. people who get easily distracted at home always extrapolate that to mean “Oh, well everyone else must be a lazy slob like i am !”… nope, many of us have self-control .

Just remember that if your job can be done at home in shorts, it can also be done by an Indian staffing firm in New Delhi for pennies on the dollar.

I’d really like to discuss a bit further with you. I know CAD. If willing to discuss, shoot me an email.
