Yes it was the same roommate. He let us keep the couch. No hard feelings about it.

He was mad about the couch and gave you the fridge equivalent of an upper decker. Is the smell coming from the ice maker?

I had that happen once while in school...after a couple of weeks, we took a good look and found that a little blood from a couple of uncooked steaks had leaked and pooled underneath those plastic bins at the bottom that hold fruit and vegetables. We cleaned that out and the funk went away.

use one of the steam cleaners with the wand and use hydrogen peroxide to get the smell out.

We found similar puddles and we cleaned them. Scrubbed the whole fridge after we unplugged it and let it completely dethaw. Smell is still here.

if their is a reservoir in the bottom of the fridge section for the water dispenser that water can get stagnant if it's sat for a while. But usually rotten smells come from gunk behind the freezer wall.

There are hoses in the fridge that have shite colored water in them. Not exactly sure how the water got in there since water cant come out from anywhere.
