BREAKING NEWS! Surginator #2 (developed by @chasinspin) measures peak storm surge depth of 16.53 FEET on Gulf of Mexico side of the levee in Buras, LA during Hurricane #Zeta on October 28th. Also, wave height can be resolved with this unprecedented 1 second storm surge data, with a significant wave height (Hs) of 5.21 feet and highest 1/10 wave height (H1/10) of 6.56 feet. Mark was also able to make wave frequency calculations, showing an incredible linear decrease in wave frequency with arrival of the hurricane conditions in Buras, LA the afternoon of October 28.
More reasonable peak storm surge depths of 6-9 feet were measured in VENICE, LA (Cypress Cove to Venice Marina), including much less wave action. NOTE the striking salinity SPIKE to 40 ppt at peak surge from Surginator #4 showing Gulf of Mexico water intrusion! Both Surginator #3 and #4 in the Venice, LA showed the double peak storm surge, with the Cypress Cove Marina location showing a pure fresh water surge (different from Venice Marina which had salt water intrusion at peak).
SUMMARY of Surginator storm surge data collected during Hurricane #Zeta in Plaquemines Parish:
*Maximum water depth: 19.22 feet (Surginator #2)
*Maximum storm surge depth: 16.54 feet (Surginator #2, 120 second running mean)
*6.56 feet H1/10 or highest 1/10 wave height
*Only 1.66' and 1.71' Hs in Venice, LA with less exposure to the Gulf of Mexico
Cool surge video from Venice

For a high-end, fast-moving two?
Gracious.

Can you link that "news release"?

I wonder if the specks came to that flare.
When Texaco would flare off gas at their tank batteries in Lake Pelto,Barre etc we would smoke the specks. Late 60’s early 70’s. Lake Pontchatrain had them also.

This is hyperbole. NOAA Pilottown only reached ~2.5
LINK
USGS at Venice also only showed ~3.5
LINK
The most accurate models also were nowhere near his prediction LINK
He either forgot to convert from meters to feet or is hoping for clicks (or both). He also is likely capturing setup and runup for those aware of these phenomena.

If it's that, it would likely be smaller numbers. Unless, he's converting feet to feet thinking they were meters.
And looking at your link, over 5 ft is about what I saw on the ground in Buras, post-Zeta.
