I know what a power cage is but how does that help if you fail on the last bench rep and the bar is on your chest?

Set the pins an inch or 2 above your chest ?

No reason to the way the equipment is set up.
Humidity is higher inside than a regualr summer's day in lafayette.
Equipment is old as frick.
Why would anyone pay so much money to workout in this dump.
I've lived many places, all large cities and I've yet to come across a gym that begins to rival the quality and affordability of Reds. Nice troll, though.

If I set the pins 2 inches above my chest I can't get full motion.

Sounds good but wouldn't work for me. I need a baw or two there to spot me on my last set. If you are alone you can't go HAF
Safety spotter bars are what I use when I bench alone.
And if the bench in your main lift, you ain't close to going HAF.

Is it still 1988?
This will be hard for some people in this thread to hear, but this is true. Reds is a gym for a style of lifting that peaked in the 80s and 90s.
Beginning in the 2000's there has been a move towards warehouse gyms. Barebones free weights, kettlebells and other implements with body weight training mixed in.
I'm no crossfit guy, but in those circles they are known as "boxes."
I trained powerlifting/bodybuilding style post Katrina, and when I moved to laf in 2007 Reds was a freaking wonderland. I am sad to say that my training for the most part stayed stuck, with some nice gains, for 7 years.
That was until I couldn't go to Reds for a couple weeks due to medical reasons and then found body weight and sandbag training. And then strongman training, with odd objects, and Olympic lifts.
I returned to reds after a medical loa, only to find in the powerlifting room a sign that said "please do not drop weights." It was at that point I knew my time at Reds had past.
I now train underground style, and I am stronger than I ever was at Reds.
If you are a serious lifter, Reds is not your gym. It is a social club, which is fine for 90% of the people. I only write this because when I went to Reds I stayed stuck in an 80-90's bodybuilding mentality, when with the information available on the internet, I was capable of much more.

You could probably boss those Snap Fitness baws around. Try there.

Yeh, they don't have pizza parties for you fatasses there. You need to join one of those Planet Fitness places. They'll make sure no one hurts your feelings, bitch.

All gyms are social clubs unless you're just an antisocial person. If I see the same people 5 days a week there's a good chance we'll get to know each other and visit a little.
My problem with red's is the crowds. I still have a membership cause my wife does classes there and kids like the pool but I work out at city club.
Also I don't want a gym at my house so that's not an option.

There is not much of a crowd early in the a.m.

You don't want to turn your garage into a gym so you have to park your cars in the yard?

I don't do weights in the morning

He likes going to a gym so he can get away from his family.

You set the pins low enough to get full range of motion. Your chest isn't concrete. If you fail you sink your chest and roll the bar.
