Sorry, non Red Cross related. After Katrina, my daughter and granddaughter came to stay with us in BR. My granddaughter was in 3rd grade and started at a school very near our house. On her first day of school, she was presented with a brand new back pack, stocked with items a student might need. These stocked backpacks were donated to the schools to be given to students in need. You cannot imagine how happy she was to have something knew that was her own. I hope this happens again, or would like name of churches that might be doing this so we can send a donation. Any info appreciated.

Well, I've heard a lot of bad shite about the Red Cross, most of which I believe is legit, but now that Gary and his peeps are against them it kind of makes me want to donate to the Red Cross.

That is something I could/would get behind...new back packs for kids etc....where 100% of the donation goes straight to those in need.

Bethenny (did I get that right?) near the interstate and Industruplex have been a MIRACLE! They have had truck loads of food brought in and professional cooks making all kinds of delicious hot plates. They also have donated blankets, pillows, other necessities to flood victims. I'm not certain who is affiliated with them but they're the help people need. Red Cross brought my neighborhood several hot lunches/ meals that were tasty too (beef stew with rice, cookies).... I can't say I've been disappointed by either. Just thankful for what I had to eat and the out pour of the COMMUNITY!

I won't exactly elaborate but I believe some events that have happened in my life particularly could be made into a book or even Hallmark movie. I wouldn't want any proceeds tho, they would go to the people who need it more than I do. I think everyone probably has many stories though. Maybe some of those affected could send their stories to a publisher and have them all printed in one book? Just a thought. I have no access to TV and I get 4 channels on the radio so the OT and FB are where I come to find out what's going on in the outside world.

Sorry for the ramble
