Sorry to hear that. Appreciate you sharing. Had something similar happen to me at Jefferson Animal Hospital.

Agreed. Concede this is true.

What did it for me was boarding my 6 year old lab there on vacation to find out he died over the weekend and was still charged a "burial fee.
Whoa, that really sucks. Should have gotten a new one or slightly used one as compensation.

I also love Dr. Breeden :-)

Good God, I would want to burn the place down if that happened to me. Completely understand your reasoning. If you want a good place to board I go to Petropolitan on Drusilla. Used them for years and have never had a complaint.

I have been using Waguespack on Siegen for years
I have used Phil for my last 3 labs (over the last 20 years)and he has always been good to me. I have also heard good things about Breeden (the old Downing Animal Hospital), Brother Hackett, and Helouin.

He would meet us at office after hours for emergencies. I miss that.
My daughter still goes out for a emergence call.
OP, False River Vet clinic in New Roads. Very well staffed and has more equipment in there office then the avg Vet clinic.

Sorry to hear this - did you feel the vet or his facility played a part in the dog's death? Charges for disposing of an animal's body exist in every hospital at every level b/c it isn't cheap. Sounds like you were kinda heading toward leaving this practice anyway but I'm not aware of any vets that eat the cost for disposing of a body.

We use Waguespack. He is short with his answers but I haven't had any issues. I haven't found him to be quick with surgery, my dog and cat have had a few issues and he always tried whatever options he could before surgery or before even doing Xrays and bloodwork.
Sorry your dog died while there, was he already sick? 6 years old is so young.

He had seizures from a young age. Very mild but still occurred once or every two weeks. Fortunately we were always there when he had them but could of been the reason for his passing. We figured that was what did it but never were 100% certain. And I know it cost money to do away with the body. After 10 years of bringing my dogs there I figured he would of told us not to worry about it. Being that it did happen while he was boarded there and the fact we have been going to him for +10 years. Just sucks to get a call from your vet saying your dog died and you owe a couple hundred bucks for disposal... That just put a bitter taste in mouth from there on out.

i recommend all pets on perkins. i really love dr. meena braden over there. she's soft spoken but very good at her job. they are super thorough, but i've heard they are a bit more expensive than others.
sherwood south is my other recommendation. i know for a fact the staff over there is amazing. they also have an ER, so they are used to seeing a lot of different cases.

Dutchtown Animal Hospital is great. Been using them for years. I know they not in BR but Dutchtown is a close drive for quality service.

Sherwood South is amazing. A little pricey but worth it.
DO NOT use Dr. Waguespack on Siegen lane. I know for a fact he charges people for vaccinations and does not give them to the dogs. Ever notice how he takes your dog in the back to give it shots instead of doing it in the exam room? Shady.

How do you know this for a fact? Worked for him or know someone who did?

Curious to know how you know this for a FACT as well. That is a serious assumption.

Yes, it is a confirmed fact. We took our dogs there since I was a kid until we heard this.

I hope your handle isn't your IRL first name and last initial if you're repeating something you heard from someone else.

Confirmed how? Never answered question.
Posted on 1/23/15 at 3:43 pm to twoboots
I said yes to the question he asked.

But you never said how you knew it. Did you get shots from him and then have your dog tested elsewhere to see if the shots were in his/her system?
