I’m in town for a wedding this weekend and I grew up in BR but left after high school in ‘98 and only went back a handful of times.

Which restaurants would you recommend? Is Ralph and Kacoo’s still a good place to eat?

As far as shopping, is the Mall of Louisiana still a good place to shop or is there a newer, trendier mall?

Here’s what I remember of BR:

Gerry Lane’s Seinfeld-ish commercials
Morris Bart and E Eric Guirard were kings.
Buddy Songy and Richard Condon owned Sportstalk radio.
X104-5 and X104-9 were the best radio stations.
The Shelter was a great place to meet roller girls.
Donna Britt and George Sellers were on WAFB.
The Hilton was still the Hilton and not the Marriott.

And of course...
“Call 1-800....551...8900. The road...starts right here!”

Nope. That would be Jimmy Ott.

He’s the GOAT.

Cortana Mall is your best bet for shopping.

I kid. Do NOT go there. Had to edit and add this, because my conscience would destroy me if you went and got the murdered.

That is now sports talk and there is no station for alternative rock in BR anymore. Only 98.1 that will occasionally play some Chili Peppers kinda stuff.

Ahh... those were the days. A friend of mine lived by the owner and his bartender wife for a while. Of course it's been closed down for quite a while. It was fun to trip and roll around in there though.

It's been closed since before Covid to my knowledge for renovations but I never saw more than a handful of cars there before that either.

If he went to Cortana it would be a quick trip. Probably too quick to get murdered.

Pretty sure that Ralph and Kacoo's is reopened. They did that remodeling to make the place look worse and I believe they're finished now.

I used to drive by it daily but not too often now. It was always a weird building for a restaurant either way. Looks like an office complex.

When I was young Ralph and Kacoos, Don’s, and La Fondas were top flight options on Airline

My buddy was related to the LaFonda's owners and we'd drop by and get chips and bean dip when we were just driving by sometimes. I used to love that place.

Google search shows Ralph and Kacoo's is still closed. I was trying to find a picture of what it looked like now. It's so bad.

Was Ralph & Kacoo’s ever in the white building next door? Where the king buffet was (is?)

I don’t remember it on airline though but I thought it used to have a porch like 1990ish???
