As others have said, Hardcore History. A good political podcast is Free Thoughts. It has a heavy libertarian flair but is very data heavy. I also go with Adam Corolla a lot because the show is hysterical.

It's amazingly well done but not for the faint of heart. First 20 episodes are captivating. The worst monsters are real.
