Great. I will definitely expand my search to entry-level field positions even though I don't really know exactly what that means.
Does anyone know where to start for these type of postings? I know most companies don't have the organized job postings web components that Halliburton or Schlumberger do.

Leave that degree off your resume for that. I'm not gonna hire someone I have to train then they're gonna jump at the first engineering job they can find

Good to know.

You most likely be hired as a roustabout unless you lie about your education. Even if you leave it off your resume, it will come up during the interview and that will likely take you off the list. Sucks but that's the way it is.
Typically, you'd be looking at service companies but right now not many of those jobs open.
If you're single and can go ANYWHERE then focus on areas where most wouldn't go.
It's really really tough out there.

Nado
Still slow on your end?
OP, good luck, it is really tough out here right now. I was pushed back twice and switched service lines twice before I was brought on and luckily to one of the few busy sectors. Definitely lower your expectations and with your GPA you can almost for sure rule out getting on with operator. Hit the service companies hard.

I would focus on all the service companies, look for mom and pops as well as the big ones. Don't even waste your time applying for operators with a sub 3.3ish at this saturated time.

but I am considering just driving down 90 in Laff and knocking on doors
Everybody is laying off in Lafayette & Broussard
I'd say look for something in same field, lesser prestige.
Or
Look in areas that are hiring (which could mean in another Country).

There's a career fair at LSU on September 9. There will certainly be people from your industry/field there.

well, you have earned an engineering degree, so you must have some tenacity about you...I think you are outthinking the whole thing...
hit that shite with a vengance, man...send out resumes to every place that you can find that hires any kind of engineer...and then call every one of them to be sure they got your stuff...
if that doesn't work, go by and bring them another copy...
if you can keep your resume at the top of the stack, eventually someone will need you for something....
and if you find two jobs, please give one to Volood....

Best bet is to go transgender and get some equal opportunity help.

This.
Engineering is all in the experience anyways. Go look for something that you can get your hands on early and actually see what's going on it'll help you down the road.
Too many graduates think that its corporate or bust and don't really get into the ballgame before knowing what they really like. You have your whole life to get into bigger firms once you have networks set up.
Good luck

Apply to consulting companies(business consulting), your gpa isn't stellar but at least you have an engineering degree and someone may want you since you have a general idea of what a well looks like and lots of cost cutting projects going on.
Did you not do on campus recruiting in the fall? 2-3 months before graduation is a pretty late timeframe to start looking for a job even in a boom time.
